Abortion Part 1: Why Pro-life?

Hi, everyone

I was thinking about what my next topic should be. And, I realized that I talked about abortion but I didn't really talk about why it is wrong. As, I was thinking about some future topics, you will need an understanding of why abortion is wrong. And, reasons why being pro-life is the right answer to the question of abortion. Yes, I may sound biased and some may say I shouldn't push my views on other people. And, I completely agree. That is why in this post I want to explain why I am pro-life. Then you can take that information, and decide for yourself if you are pro-life or pro-abortion. (Notice, I didn't use the term 'pro-choice', there is a reason for that but I will get to that later on.)

The one question that determines the issue of abortion is, when does life begin? Does it begin at conception or at birth? If, you answer this question, you answer the question of whether or not abortion is wrong. Because, if human life begins at conception, then if you abort a baby you are killing a human life. And, that is murder.

One of the major reasons that I am pro-life, is because I am a Christian. And, I sincerely believe that human life is precious and not to be destroyed. In my view, Exodus 20:13 clearly states the reason for pro-life, "You shall not murder". Psalm 139: 13-14 shows that it is an intricate baby, not a blob of tissue, "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."

That verse brings up what many people think is an excuse for abortion. The myth that a baby isn't really a baby in the womb, that it is just a blob of tissue. Well, here is the break down of the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, and tell me if that is just a blob of tissue.

Week 1 - Conception; the baby is smaller than a grain of sugar, but the instructions are present for all that this person will ever become.
Week 2 - The baby attaches and burrows securely into the wall of its mother's womb.
Week 3 - The baby's blood vessels and sex cells form. Foundations of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system are laid.
Week 4 - The baby's heart has begun to beat. Eyes, ears and lungs begin to form.
Week 5 - Tiny arms and legs appear, as well as the baby's face. The baby's blood is now separate from the mother's.
Week 6 - Tiny fingers and toes develop. The baby's brain is divided into 3 parts for emotion and language, hearing, and seeing.
Week 7 - Buds of the baby's milk teeth appear. 99% of the muscles are present, and brain activity is detectable.
Week 8 - The baby begins spontaneous movement and is now well proportioned, about the size of a thumb. Every organ is present, but immature. The skull, elbows, and knees are forming.
Week 9 - If prodded, hands and eyelids close. Genitalia become visible, indicating whether the baby is a by or a girl. Muscular movement begins.
Week 10 - The baby's fingerprints begin to form. Nerve and muscle connections have tripled. Eyelids fuse together temporarily to protect the baby's delicate developing eyes.
Week 11 - The baby "practices" breathing and facial expressions, even smiling. The baby can also urinate and stomach muscles can contract.
Week 12 - The baby is now 3 inches in length and weighs 2 oz. with fine hair on the face. The baby is able to swallow and feels and responds to skin stimulation.

That, doesn't sound like a blob of tissue to me. To look at this on a scale of when abortions usually take place. 62% of legal abortions in the US for 2011 took place during these first 12 weeks. The rate for legal abortions goes down for each trimester. Though the opposite is true for illegal abortions in the US. 86% of illegal abortions happen in the third trimester. Whether or not, you think that is right I will let you decide. And, don't listen to the myth that there would be more illegal abortions if abortion itself was illegal. Because, legalizing something makes it morally acceptable, causing more abortions to happen. Whereas, the amount of abortions would decrease if it wasn't legal because it would not be morally acceptable.

Another thing that has really opened my eyes to the brutality of abortion is some videos. I am going to put the links below. But, before I do. The videos has VERY GRAPHIC images on them. If you are unsure if you should watch the videos, please don't because I do not want you to scare or shock any one into being pro-life.
Here are two videos, a general one and one focused more on Canadian abortions;
http://prolifetraining.com/abortionvideo.asp#self
http://www.abort73.com/videos/this_is_abortion_canada/

If, you another information about pro-life both of this websites, http://www.abort73.com/ and http://prolifetraining.com/default.asp are great, as well as any book by Randy Alcorn concerning abortion.

The next post I write, I am going to focus on the myths of abortions and show you why they are myths. And, try to give you some tools on how to discuss abortion with others. Because, it is our job to talk about, there are thousands of babies dying, what are we going to do about it?

The use of Aborted Human cells in Immunizations.

Hey, everyone

This is a topic that really made me want to start a blog. It is an intense one, so prepare yourself.

The thought and/or the concern of aborted human cells in immunizations, never crossed my mind till this past year. In March, I went to Nepal for 10 days and before I went I had to get my immunizations because I was home schooled, so I never received them. Even, the immunizations from when I was a baby weren't up to date. When, I started to think about immunizations, my mom remembered a conversation that she had with a close family friend, who is also a nurse, about immunizations. Our friend had learnt that some immunizations had aborted Human cells in them. So, that is when my research started, and it was intense and hard. So, this is the information that I found out.

The first website that I looked at, was the Children of God for Life website. It is an organization focused on the preservation  of human life. The chart they have on their website shows the different vaccines and what the cell line is. The definition of cell line, defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is "a cell culture selected for uniformity from a cell population derived from a usually homogeneous tissue source (as an organ)". Basically, a cell line is the starting point for making immunizations, medicine, etc.

If, you open the chart in a new window, we can  go over so we can understand each one better. First, you will see a 'NOTE' at the top of the chart, this note is very helpful. All of you that worry about the flu, and want to get the flu shot, don't worry, flu shots don't use human cell lines. They actually use chicken embryos. Also, if you are looking for a replacement of the Hep A or Rubella vaccine, Immune-Globulin is the way to go, that is if you live in Canada, but I will talk more about Immune-Globulin later on.

I really only want to go through the chart and give you the information and definitions of some terms, so that you have a deeper understanding of the chart. And, you are then able to make a decision on how you want to proceed.

So, the first column is the disease that the vaccine is for, and I am sure that you understand that. Next, is the drug name of the vaccine that has the human cells in it, and next is the Manufacturer. Next is the Cell Line and then a place for an Alternative. I am doing to mostly focus on the Cell Line, and what those weird combinations of letters and numbers mean.

The first one is 'MRC-5' used in a chickenpox vaccine, a Hep A vaccine and almost every other vaccine in the chart.  The full name is 'Medical Research Council cell strain 5'. This strain was developed by J.P. Jacobs, C.M. Jone & J.P Baille. Now, here is the awful part, the MRC-5 strain is "derived from foetal lung tissue, taken from a 14-week male foetus removed for so-called psychiatric reason from a 27 year old woman with a genetically normal family history and no sign of neoplastic disease both at abortion and for at least three years afterwards". And, I am not making that up, I quoted right from the Nature Publishing Group website that has a statement from the developers of the strain, which includes the above sentence.

The second one is 'WI-38', used in a chickenpox vaccine, and in a Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine, as well as one combining both chickenpox and MMR. The full name of WI-38 is Wistar Institute cell strain 38. It was derived from the lung tissue of a three month-old female aborted fetus. The following quote are from a paper written by S.A. Plotkin, about the strain;
"Source of Virus: Virus was obtained from an aborted rubella-infected human fetus. The 25- year-old mother was exposed to rubella eight weeks after the last menstrual period. A macular rash and lymphadenopathy developed 16 days after exposure, and rubella virus was isolated from her nasopharynx on the second day of rash. Serum neutralizing antibodies to rubella virus increased from <4, at the time of rash, to 16, three weeks later. The fetus was surgically aborted 17 days after  the maternal illness and dissected immediately. Explants from several organs were cultured and successful cell growth was achieved from lung, skin, and kidney. All cell strains were found to be carrying rubella virus. As illustrated in Fig 1, fibroblastic cells from the kidney explant were subcultivated four times by trypsinization and 1:2 split, after which the supernatant fluid was harvested. This harvest was inoculated on sta- tionary WI-38 diploid lung fibroblasts, to initiate infection in these cells. Three further passages were subsequently performed by serially inoculat- ing supernatant tissue culture fluids on fresh WI-38 cultures. Two weeks after inoculation of the fourth set of WI-38 cell cultures, the super- natant fluid was harvested, pooled, and divided into aliquots."
Also, included on that list is WI-26, which was derived from the lungs of a male aborted fetus was used to develop the first polio virus in 1962. It is now mixed with VA4 and used against "herpes simplex, poliovirus 2, Sindbis, versic. stomatitis". On the chart, it says that is mixture is used in a vaccine called Enbrel. I just  looked up the monograph for Enbrel but I could not see WI-26 VA4 mixture. Though, I might have missed it, this is why it is good to always check the monograph of the vaccine.

The next one is HEK-293 used in the vaccine Xigris for Sepsis. The HEK-293 cells are "derived from human embryonic kidney cells grown in tissue culture". Now, the only real problem I have with this strain is really the key of embryonic and how they get the cells. And that they are cultured which really means that they are made via artificial means. Which, always makes me a little hesitate. But, if anyone knows more about this line, please let me know.

The last cell line is RA 27/3. The full name is Rubella abortus 27th fetus, 3rd tissue explant. There is a number of articles that the developers of this strain wrote, and I would add them to this post but the issue is to see the full article you have to be a doctor, from the looks of some of the sign in pages. So, I will tell you as much as I can. This strain used primarily for Rubella vaccines was obtained during the 1964 rubella epidemic in the US. It was then grown on WI-38. An article was published that explains the study and development of this strain, derived from forty aborted fetuses. The weird thing is that none of the developers believes that any of this is wrong. One of the developers, Stanley A. Plotkin (quoted above as well) said "I have no doubt that rubella vaccination has prevented thousands and thousands of abortions. From strictly an arithmetical assessment, the good done by the vaccine - if you are opposed to abortion - is infinitely greater than any possible harm."

I am going to now give you some monographs for some of the vaccines in this chart. And show you what you need to look for. Let's look at Havrix® made by GSK. If, you look under Composition on Page 11 of the monograph, then look at the first sentence of the second paragraph. "The virus is propagated in MRC-5 human diploid cells". Let's look at other one MMR Ⅱ® made by Merck & Co. This, is an easy one because you just need to look at the second paragraph of the first page of the monograph to find the information. It is the third point in that second paragraph, and it says "(3) MERUVAX* II (Rubella Virus Vaccine Live), the Wistar RA 27/3 strain of live attenuated rubella virus propagated in WI-38 human diploid lung fibroblasts." So, when you look at the monographs of vaccines, look for key word e.i. RA 27/3, WI-38, MRC-5, and/or propagated in human diploid cells.

Now, when I look at all this information it makes me wonder, am I the only one that thinks that this is wrong? Especially, when we have the ability to make a stand. The stand can be hard, especially when you might need some of the vaccines. But, there are alternatives to these vaccines that don't use human cell lines. Though, the alternatives are either in other countries or really hard to get? Such as, the alternative to the Hep A vaccine which is available in Europe and Japan or Immune-Globulin that is  really hard to get and only gives temporary immunity (3-5months).

This is what Esther's challenge really comes down to whether or not, you are going to make a stand. Whether or not, you are going to stand up and say this is wrong. Because how can we bear to see the calamity that us coming to this world and how can we bear to see the destruction of innocent babies. I don't know how we can, but I am ready to make a stand, how about you?

Divided the movie: Modern Youth Ministry is contrary to Scripture.

Hi, everyone

I seriously need to into more of a pattern of blogging. Oh well, I have a bit of a controversial topic that I am going to talk about today.

What I am going to talk about is a small movie put out by the LeClerc brothers, called Divided. Now, it might be a small movie that not a lot of people have seen but it talks about a big subject, and quite a controversial one as well. It talks about Youth Ministry, and why so many youth are falling away from Christianity.

The movie is about the one brother, Phillip traveling around the US, talking to teenagers, pastors, commentators, and more. At the start of the movie, his focus is to find out why so many teenagers are falling away from Christianity. As, the movie progresses, he starts to ask questions about Youth Ministry and the Age-segregated Church. Right now, it is free to watch the movie on the website. www.dividedthemovie.com. If, you haven't seen it, watch it before you read the rest of this post.

Before, I talk out what is discussed in the movie, let me give you a background in my experience with Youth ministry. I grew up going to Sunday School and mid-week programs at every church, we attended as a family. Though, when I was able to attend the youth group. I wasn't really interesting. We never really did youth group as a family. My brother was the only one out of the three kids in my family, that ever attended youth group, and he didn't attend every week. I wasn't interested in attending youth group, because to me, it looked like the only thing they really did was play games. I really wanted more. Yes, I was/am a weird teenager, that would like to listen to teaching, pray or worship, rather than play games.

Back to the movie, hopefully you watch the movie, so you will understand what I am talking about. They explain a lot in the movie, so I am not going to go into a lot of detail. I really just wanted to publicize the movie, because I think they are absolutely right on. The thing, I want to do is give you more tools. So, you can investigate it more because it will mean so much more to you if you look into it yourself. I am, though, going to look at the Biblical view of Youth Ministry.

As, I was looking up Bible verses about this topic, a variety of things came to mind. 3 main ones, the first two go hand in hand but the third is kind off topic.

1. It makes me think of Titus and Timothy, two young people that God used in an amazing way. 1 Timothy 4:12 says "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." As young people, we are to set an example. Not sit around and play games.

2. The second thing, it makes me think of, is two brothers, Alex and Brett Harris. They started a thing called 'The Rebelution'. They wrote two books, Do Hard Things and Start Here. They are tired of the low expectations of youth, and are wanting to start a rebellion against them. You can find out more at www.therebelution.com.

3. And something they talk a lot about in the movie, is fathers rising up to take responsibility. Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it". Now the question is, who exactly is the person who needs to train up the child. Deuteronomy 6: 6-7 answers that question "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." It is the parent's responsibility to train up their children, not youth pastors. Most importantly it is the father's responsibility says Ephesians 6:4, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." Sadly, parents give away this amazing opportunity to train their children up in the ways of God, by believing it is the job of the children's or youth pastor. They are very mistaken, it is their job. But, as women, we need to also understand that it is the man's responsibility to be the leader. I am not saying that we have no responsibility, because we have a ton. What I am saying is that the man has a spiritual responsibility to lead. I have seen examples of this, when women have become heads of a group of Christians, and put down the men. And their children pick up on this, and they put down men as well. Giving no respect that the men deserve.

This post has done quite a circle. And I didn't really even talk about the movie. The one topic of youth ministry brings up so many other areas. I hope you watch the video, and really get deep understanding out of it. When, I watched the video, it didn't change my view on youth ministry because I already held that view. But, it challenged me in something that God was already speaking to me about. How I create the men in my life and men in general. I am to treat them with respect and not try to control them. It is time for women to stop belittling men, so men can rise up and take the responsibility God has given them.

The Results are in..

Hi, everyone

I'm sorry that I didn't blog sooner after the election. I have been busy getting back into the normal schedule of my life, which is crazy on its own.

So, it has been 13 days since election day. And, I must say it was an outcome nobody, including myself, expected. I am incredibly happy with the outcome, especially with the Conservative majority. What an awesome victory!

As, I think back over the past 5 weeks, I think of all the amazing memories I have of the campaign. It was so much fun and I learnt so much. Now, I must say that you are even a little bit interested in politics or love to volunteer. Volunteer in political campaigns, you learn so much about the candidates in your riding and also what each party stands for. Helping out with the campaign, has really grown my confidence in talking to people in person and on the phone, something that I greatly dislike. Back to the campaign.

I want to congratulate the Prime Minister on his amazing victory, I believe it was well earned. I also want to congratulate every MP that was re-elected or was elected for the first time, whether or not they were Conservative. I challenge you to get and congratulate your MP, as well. It can be as easy as sending a note or stopping in at their office. I know that they would really appreciate it.

Here's another challenge, try sending a note or volunteering or stopping by during the next four years to help encourage your MP. We really need to honour those that have been put into places of authority. Something, as a society, we often fail at. Remember, 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in ever way". I think another thing to remember, is that your MP and the Prime Minister are real people, who deserve your respect. Over this entire campaign, I think the one thing that will really stick with me, is Mrs. Harper crying as the Prime Minister thanked his family. It showed how family-centered and down to earth, that entire family is. And, how everyone of them and everyone of your MPs and their families deserve your respect. They do so much for us, the least we can do is give them some respect in return.

Election Time!!

Well, I am going to jump right in. I know quite a few of you probably never wanted an election. I certainly didn't want one, especially when I am only a few months off voting myself. (Which is something I am really looking forward to) But, here we are anyways.

First off, maybe I should mention that I lean towards the Conservative party the most. Though, I don't agree with everything the Prime Minister and my MP does, I find I believe that they are on the best track of all the parties. I actually volunteer with my MP, and I am helping out with this election. And I am loving it. The reason why I am writing about the election is because I want to highlight a couple of things, I think are important to remember for the election.

The most important thing to remember is what the Bible tells us about government and how we are to respond to it. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 tells us, "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." We are to honour politicians and those in government. It really saddens me that we have lost so much trust in the government. And the only word that comes to mind when we think about government is 'corrupt'. I think it is important to go back to what the Bible says and start treating politicians and those who work in the government with the respect they deserved. They serve us day in and day out, the least we can do is treat them with a little respect.

Now, I do also want you to use that thing between our ears that we often forget to use, myself included. It is time to think about what is important to you, your family and Canada on a whole. It is time to starting thinking about the issues instead of voting for someone just because your parents did or you were told to.  I am tired of reading the newspaper and all the people in it attacking the Conservatives and the Prime Minister, when they don't know all the facts. One, of the things that people don't understand is that the Conservatives did not shut down the government. THE OPPOSITION DID!! They were the ones that voted against the budget and put it to no-confidence vote. Another thing, did you know that if the Conservatives get another minority and then the opposition votes against the budget and decides not to form a coalition. We could see another election within a month. That is ridiculous! Another thing is this situation with MP Helena Guergis. If she hadn't gotten kicked out of the Conservative party, there would have been a big scandal. The opposition isn't happy that the Prime Minister kicked her out and they probably wouldn't have been happy if he hadn't. I think the Prime Minister did the right thing by kicking her out.

I am not going to tell you who to vote for, even though I think the Conservatives are the best choice. I am instead going to ask you, to get information on all the parties' plan of action. And think about who the best person is to, lead this country and help your family. And most of all I challenge you, even if you didn't want this election, to get out and vote. I believe that if you want an opinion on the government, you have to vote. And youth, get out and vote. It is our future that they are dealing with, because the decisions they make today are going to affect us the most in the future.

May 2nd, get out and VOTE!!!

Japan

All of you should know what happened in Japan on March 11. A terrible earthquake and tsunami damaged and destroyed part of the country. You might ask why, I am talking about Japan and what that has to do with Esther's challenge. Well, I would say it has a lot. This, is the calamity and destruction that Esther is talking about. And what are we going to do about it.

I have a question for you, is it enough to look at the pictures and videos and feel sorry for the people there?  Are we supposed to just watch as fellow humans go through this disaster? Is it enough to listen to reports saying that Japan is a wealthy country, it will bounce back? No, it is our time to help. Proverbs 28:27 gives a promise, as well as a warning about giving, " Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse". But, please do not feel pressured to give, I only ask that you open your eyes to the need. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." So, I challenge you, look at the pictures and videos again. Look at the people in them, the people whose lives have been torn apart. Look at the need of the people. And decide in your heart, how much you want to give. And, most importantly do it cheerfully!

Here are some links for if you decide to give,

The First Post!!

Hello,

Well, this is it, the first blog post. I thought I should introduce myself a little bit first, before I start blogging. And to tell you what this blog is about.  I was challenged to start a blog because I am tired of all the lies of this world. And people being ignorant of them. I would like to start telling people about them.

I think the first thing I should tell you about myself, is that I am a Christian. And, all my views come from what I believe the Bible says about them. I am not here to shove Christianity into your face, but I am not going to hide my faith. Because, it is the most important aspect of my life. Another, thing I should tell you, is that I am going to write slightly anonymous, what I mean by slightly is that I am going to use my middle name. I am not going to tell you my full name for a couple of reasons, primarily because I want the focus to be on what I am writing about, not on me. I am 17 years old, and finishing up my last year of high school. I have many interests, politics and Jane Austen are high up on the list. I am really just a normal teenager with a burden to tell people about truth. So, I am starting with a blog.

I will probably have a large range of topics. I will talk about some challenging subjects. Which, brings me to the name of my blog. It comes from the Bible, Esther 8:6 to be exact. Esther 8:6 says, "For how can I bear to see the calamity that is coming to my people? Or how can I bear to see the destruction of my kindred?". Esther was talking about the destruction of the Jews, and every time I read that verse I am challenged. God has given me a voice, am I using it? I need to use it, to speak out about millions of babies dying every year and challenging us (myself included) to reach out and help countries that are in need, such as Japan and Haiti. I have a voice and I am going to use it. You have a voice, are you going to use it?
